On an excursion from the Indian Pacific train in Broken Hill, we were presented with a lone meringue and a cornucopia of native fruits and sauces made from native ingredients, and were invited to go crazy with them in creating our own individual pavlova. Here's the result:
The train's now in Mount Victoria (where a bunch of passengers got off for tours), and will apparently take four hours to reach Sydney Central from here. Kinda curious how they'll manage to travel that bit so slowly. I'm in my comfy room though, no hurry.

Andreas WiedenhoffAmong my #2024 train travels, one certainly stands out: #Sydney to #Perth on board the #IndianPacific 🇦🇺. Passing through the Outback over night, one could see the Southern Cross 🌌 through the train window. A most memorable moment for someone from the Northern Hemisphere. ✨🌟💫

#Perth 🇦🇺 is the terminus station for the #IndianPacific from #Sydney, yet it’s not the end of the line: on a suburban train one can reach #Fremantle, a port town right by the Indian Ocean. (And it’s got a really nice train station.)
Next to the #Sleepers and the #LoungeCar|s, the long consist of the #Sydney to #Perth #IndianPacific 🇦🇺 includes some beautifully decorated @diningcar|s where freshly cooked breakfasts, lunches and dinners can be enjoyed in a cosy atmosphere.
#Cook 🇦🇺 in the middle of no… err, in the middle of the #Nullarbor Plain. A fresh-air stop, as remote as it can get: #Adelaide and #Perth are each more than 1,000 kms away. And: it’s THE opportunity for everyone to take pictures of the #IndianPacific, its 27 cars and the loco.
