I'm (strongly/seriously) considering doing the Indian Pacific from Sydney to Perth in Jan/Feb next year. Solo room.

And now I've realised that I could fly from Perth to Adelaide and catch the Great Southern back to Brisbane, and tick two of the long train rides of Australia off in one hit.

So far my ~23 day trip consists of:

✈️🛳️🚉❓🚘❓✈️🚉

While simultaneously visiting every mainland state capital city + the Australian capital in one trip.

I'm hoping my nephew will be in WA while I'm there (he's building a house in Margaret River), otherwise I'm going to figure out how to get to Kalgoorlie, visit Lake Ballard, and see the art installation.

@Andrea We did the Kalgoorlie - Perth overnight bit in steerage (smoking) some 20-odd years ago. Do not recommend that :-)

@Andrea my folks have done the Ghan, Indian Pacific and this coming week are going to do both The Overland to Adelaide and the Great Southern from Adelaide to Brisbane. They love it, made them love train trips again
