My sort-of interactive short fiction piece "The Field Guide for Next Time" from the recent issue of khoreo magazine is now free to read online. It's a solar-punkish, Indigenous Futurismy, eco-anarchist guidebook for how to live in a speculative future. Spend some time with it if you like!

The Field Guide for Next Time

Archivist’s note: This textile has been gifted to the Community Archive by Auntie Cade Persaud before her airship travels east. It is a collaborative record of lessons shared, and she wishes for the piece to be kept with the neighborhood. Unfolded, the dimensions of the Field Guide are the width of a grown man’s embrace […]

A PRAYER FOR THE CROWN SHY x REDEMPTION IN INDIGO

A storyteller from the future takes a stranger (that’s you!) along a twisty narrative path through an eco-anarchist solar punk society to rescue a single troubled child.

I'm still figuring out how I want to use/contribute to this space. If you're here wondering why a random person (me!) just started following you, it's cos you briefly imagined the end of capitalism. And I want to follow people with the ability to do that :)

@annaleen My short story “The Field Guide for Next Time” in the upcoming issue of @KhoreoMag imagines the end of capitalism, and the steps to bring about that end. Sorta spoiler, but the focus is on what and how (and why) that future society teaches their children. It’s a cool world. Can’t wait for people to move around in the story and enjoy what we’ve been missing! #ImagineTheEndofCapitalism

Am now reminded that I, and others, aren't the ones being pessimistic when we post negative posts online.

The pessimistic ones are the ones who can't imagine a better alternative.

@annaleen I imagine people getting the medical care they need, even if it's a one-and-done real cure, and regardless of their wealth. I imagine a global pandemic taken seriously: resources pooled to upgrade air filtration and ventilation and provide respirators for all; paid leave for sick and/or infectious people; full support for disabled people. #ImagineTheEndOfCapitalism
A world where hustle culture doesnt exist, nor does burnout. Where you aren’t stressed about affording basic necessities on top of all your other stress from the jobs you’re working & life in general. Where people that are different and those that have disabilities are accepted & not looked down upon. Where mental health is treated and not shunned. Where you get to do something you love everyday & have a community of supportive non judgmental people all around you. #imaginetheendofcapitalism

I would read more, so much more, and I would do it for pleasure, instead of out of obligation. I would find stranger hobbies. I would do some kind of regular outreach work where I live, never publicized, for free.
