A ★★★★½ review of Red Desert (1964)
Another stunning film by Antonioni. Another stunning performance by Monica Vitti. Perhaps this Il Deserto Rosso is a bit more difficult to 'get into' but so are some other movies by Antonioni. But it could also be an advantage, as a viewer you must do an effort to 'understand' the film. But I guess like in almost every Lynch film it's not a must to understand it, you have to feel it and let go of any sense of logic. It's cinema, quoi. So many scenes look like paintings.
