I've been busy this morning, too. Not just yesterday. TWO DAYS!

Most of my time today was spent making garden soil from a blend of composts, vermiculite (and a small bag of perlite left over from Mom's flower-garden days), and sphagnum moss.

Now, I'm hot and sweaty and not fit for public appearances.

Happy #Tuesday, y'all.

So, whilst the tyrants of this world continue to take massive profits from the misery of others, I am contented in the knoweldge that my #hostas are keeping me #calm, most of the time.

This beetroot flushed and rather shiny hosta is a brand new one that has just been named plant of the year at RHS #Chelsea.

It is called Red Ninja - as in Ninya and not Ninja. It was bred by the Danish hosta lover, Ninja Kramer and released this spring.

We had ours from Sienna Hostas.

Well dammit.

Those 120-lbs long-legged nuisances decided to make a bed in the freshly spread bark mulch. They slept here last night. Criminy's sake, may has well have them come in & sleep on the couch.

Anyway, this morning I did a lot of raking to put the mulch back in place.

It should be noted that not one of those long-legged rat beasts ate any #hostas. So, there may be something to be said about spreading Irish spring in the #flowerbeds.

Good grief. Bars of soap in the landscaping! LOL.

I have added some new #hostas to our collection.

This wriggly beast is called Brutus and promises to be a real giant in a few years time.

It is a cross between one of the most beautiful hostas of all time called Sea Drift (which was introduced by Mildred Seaver).

Other Sea Drift crosses include Niagara Falls which is famed for it's huge dark green leaves and piecrust edges.

Looks promising so far.

Hostas were originally known as Funkias, & named in honour of Mr. Heinrich Christan Funck

I did some of that yesterday before the rain set in.

Happy #Thursday, y'all.
Another reason why I love #hostas so much is the 3 seasons of interest.

You get new leaves in the #spring that may sometimes morph from one colour to the other.

You get #flowers in the #summer.

You get amazing #autumn colour.

This is my own unregistered seedling, which I have named Kathleen after my mother.

Ruffled blue leaves in spring are followed by golden yellow leaves in October.

It's a seedling from Neptune but far easier to grow and nicer, in my opinion.
