October 31, 2013: The balds didn't seem very bald today. As the day progressed, it got more and more cloudy. We could tell a storm was brewing. At the top of Wayah Bald we called the Franklin Chamber of Commerce, and two ladies volunteered to bring us into town. We checked into a motel, and only left to get pizza and beer. A warm and dry night was nice.

This is happening right now. (November 1rst, around noon)

SVF RESPONDING TO BRIDAL VEIL FALLS , INDEX, FOR TECHNICAL RESCUE - TREE HAS FALLEN ON HIKER TRAPPING HIM.

Update.
Crews are encountering several trees down having to cut their way through trees. First team of EMTs have made patient contact attempting to free him

Second update

High winds continue to cause trees to fall creating very dangerous conditions for rescuers. Crews are moving as fast as possible before other people are injured.

3rd and final. Great outcome!

After very challenging conditions and a lot of fast work, patient and rescuers are down to trailhead off trail. Patient is recieving ALS care and will be trasnsported shortly. We are so happy our crews were able to work as fast as they did and avoid other injuries in these conditions. Mother nature challenged us on this one !
