I did it! Finished the #AuroraCabinShawl designed by #StephenWest and subject of this year's Hiber-Knit-Along, in which we all cast on, on Dec. 26th.
Hard work, also such fun. A big adventure. Mostly used Jade Sapphire silk-cashmere fingering weight yarn - correct yardage but lighter weight than pattern specified.
Will get better shots outside tomorrow, the color is off in these shots. My CNA Christine is modeling. What a thrill to complete it!

I've been working on the i-cord bind-off of over 1,000 stitches on this WIP... Knit 2, knit 2 together through back, slide 3 stitches from right needle back to left. One stitch bound off. Repeat 999 more times... 1/2

@Ebly Thank you for coming along on this journey! It is taking me a LOT longer to do this than usual. Oh well! It's not a race after all. The chevron section is emerging to be beautiful, with a lovely fluted ridge. Here's a sneak peak.
This i-cord bind-off is taking a good beat to finish. Probably gonna lose my game of yarn chicken on border, but that's OK. Once again my policy of having an extra skein on hand is paying off. Have to wind it though.
Anyway, it's The home stretch!
OMG Mastoknitterati! I am at that thrilling moment - starting the i-cord bind-off. As exciting for me as casting on, when everything is possibility and the adventure is just behinning. Will post the FO later today!
I can't wait to see how the colors and patterns "read" once blocked. I was playing with pushing the shades close together, and further blending them by making 4 of the 5 yarns dappled. This ball of Juniper Moon Farms "Findley Dappled" was the initial inspiration for the palette, and I built the color story around it. We'll see when it's laid out if I struck the right balance!
I've reached the point where the WIP is so big - approaching the legendary "shlanket" size designer Stephen West is known for - that it's hard to spread out to show the whole thing, until it's off needles. Every picture I post looks like the last one, but I have to call out my 6 rows achieved today. Loooong rows.
This weekend, wrap up 5-color band, knit deep chevron border. Then block! Then wear!

The end is nigh! I'm just 21-1/2 rows away from finishing final five-color band on shawl. Long rows, but still.
After this, it's 16 looong rows of chevron, then bind off in contrast color.
This knit - #AuroraCabinShawl from Stephen West - has been a blast. I got to do hard design thinking, got to use amazing new yarns from #JadeSapphire 2-ply - cashmere and silk-cashmere yarns, and got to make a thing of beauty, just for me. Yay! π§Ά
My brethren knitters, I am almost in the home stretch! Half-way through the last 5 color band, and then the very last section - a generous chevron edging. Lastly block and then wear it happily for the rest of my life! This one's a keeper. π§ΆβΊοΈπ

In Apache Sunrise. 50% merino, 50% silk, it's a delight to work with. This is from their "dappled" line, they also have solids. Weight is between fingering and lace. I'm working it now on a US3, in a shawl. π§Άπ
