It has been a while, but here is a new part of #GwenAndGrey
After they had broken their fast, the Baron leaned forward "Now, we have eaten. Gwen, you are the eldest, and despite the tradition being that the eldest son inherits the title, you were always the one we, your mother and I, intended to be heir. I see no reason to change this."
"Oh, thank the gods for that." Allen muttered. The idea of having to run the fiefdom had always filled him with dread.
The Baron continued, with a small smile at his son's relief, "However, I am going to have to insist that you start taking on the responsibilities of the title. And that means living here in the castle."
Gwen looked at Grey. Grey looked back.
"Yes, Grey, that means you are going to have to live here with your wife and children. It is, Gwen, what your mother would have wanted."
Gwen sighed. Father was not playing fair bringing Mother into it. But he was right, if she was the heir, then she had to take on the responsibilities. Including providing heirs of her own. At least that was taken care of.
"Very well, Father. We will move back here, but we will need a new wing - we will need somewhere where Grey can stretch out."
"Well that can be your first responsibility then - organising and paying for the new wing to be built. As for you and Emily, Allen..."
"Yes, Father?"
"I see no reason for things to change. Gwen, you will continue to make Allen and Emily welcome here."
Gwen grinned "Of course - they will always have a home here."
"Thank-you Father - and you, Sister." Allen paused. "Although, Father, Emily and I have some news we need to share."
"Well, I cannot imagine that it is that you are expecting."
"No, but it is serious. Gwen, can you call Emily down?"
"Of course." Gwen whispered to the air, and a small birdlike form darted up and through the ceiling.
