Finally transcribed the #grandma recordings for this week. They mainly were about the present. Highlight was when she described, how her rollator started moving after being accidentally pushed by her back. She was "running" after it to catch it and somehow it only got faster. We were both laughing so hard in the recording. It was a real pleasure.

Turns out that the remaining 144 recordings were including the ones I had transcribed last week. With today's progress (and removing one, that only had me taking a note after a phone call), I'm now left with 136 recordings in total (plus the ones were we discuss photo albums). This last recordings were of April 2022, next is June 2022. The done pile meanwhile has 365 recordings of various lengths.

Finally done with pre-sorting and naming a lot of audio recordings with different people up to the month that #grandma died. For the first time, I have the absolut count without any estimates: 144 grandma recordings left to transcribe from April 2022 until October 2023.

Sad highlight might have been about her uncle Emil Hercher (https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Hercher-33, the one with the incredible flight from being a prisoner of war): After the death of his wife, grandma's mother took care of him at his home for several months. When grandma visited her there for Christmas, her mother locked him in in the living room, since he "doesn't need to hear everything we talk". When grandma left, she saw him laying on the couch with a sad face. She was sure, he was looking forward to spending some time with her as well.

Very belated #grandma recording I forgot to post about yesterday. It took us back to her third year of life, when they finally built a chimney at their farm. Before that, there used to be a "smoke kitchen" ("Rauchküche", https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rauchküche) with open fire. She remembered how black the members of her family were, when they took down the "cover"/"top" of it and built a room on top of the kitchen instead. My favorite ancestor, Kunigunde Schindler https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Schindler-1413, had wanted to spend her older days at the farm, but the husband of her daughter, grandma's grandfather, refused to install a chimney (which she had demanded for her to come there), so she remained in Switzerland. A few years after the death of grandma's grandfather, his widow and/or her daughter pushed forward the installation of the chimney.
