🕯️ On This Day in LGBTQ+ History: February 16 ⚠️ February 16, 2023: Ghana’s Parliament advances sweeping anti LGBTQ+ legislation By February 16, 2023, Ghana’s Parliament was actively advancing the Promotion of Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill, widely described by human rights groups as one of the most severe anti LGBTQ+ legislative proposals in Africa. Committee proceedings and parliamentary debate during this period signaled that the bill was moving closer to passage. The proposed law sought to criminalize not only same sex relationships but also LGBTQ+ advocacy, public expression of LGBTQ+ identity, and support services. International observers warned that its advancement represented a significant global setback for LGBTQ+ rights. At this moment in history: 🕯️LGBTQ+ Ghanaians faced increased threats of arrest and imprisonment 🕯️Community organizations risked closure or prosecution for providing support 🕯️Public hostility intensified, including harassment and physical attacks 🕯️Families reported fear, forced displacement, and pressure to conceal identity February 16 serves as a context date marking when legislative momentum translated into heightened danger for LGBTQ+ people across Ghana. The debate itself contributed to social backlash, reinforcing stigma and emboldening discrimination. Who continued to defend equality Locally, organizations such as LGBT+ Rights Ghana and other grassroots community networks worked under significant risk to provide shelter, legal guidance, and emergency assistance. Regionally and globally, groups including Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, Outright International, and the United Nations Independent Expert on protection against violence and discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity (Graeme Reid) spoke out against the bill. African human rights defenders and diaspora advocates mobilized to challenge the narrative that LGBTQ+ rights are foreign or incompatible with cultural identity. #LGBTQRights #GlobalEquality #HumanRights #LGBTGhana
🕯️ On This Day in LGBTQ+ History: January 29 ⚠️ January 29, 2014: Uganda’s Anti-Homosexuality Act moves toward enforcement By late January 2014, Uganda’s Anti-Homosexuality Act had already been passed by Parliament and was awaiting presidential assent, creating immediate fear across the country and drawing global condemnation. As of January 29, the law’s implementation was actively unfolding in practice, even before it was formally signed. At this moment: 🕯️LGBTQ+ Ugandans faced arrest, eviction, and mob violence 🕯️Community organizations went underground or shut down entirely 🕯️Media outlets published names and photos of alleged LGBTQ+ individuals 🕯️International human rights groups warned of a severe humanitarian crisis The law expanded criminal penalties for same sex relationships and encouraged public reporting, effectively turning neighbors, employers, and families into potential enforcers. January 29 stands as a context date during a period when state sanctioned persecution intensified, marking a significant global setback for LGBTQ+ safety, dignity, and human rights. #LGBTQHistory #HumanRights #GlobalEquality #UgandaLGBTQ

A model solution that creates solution-creating models has the potential to spread globally and transform life as we know it on this planet. Creating open source blueprints to accomplish this in the form of self-sufficient teacher/demonstration communities, villages, and cities working together as a global cooperative addressing the pressing problems of our generation while providing a more appealing and affordable lifestyle is the foundation of this. Creating these hubs as open source and as easy to replicate as possible is One Community path to making these solution models self-replicating solution models that exponentially grow and create additional solution creating models.

The basic principle of a resource based economy is the making of all goods and services available without the use of money, credits, barter, or any other system of debt or servitude. In our implementation of this it means that investment of time and energy becomes the only currency and all resources are shared and managed by the collective desires of the group. We see consensus governing as a foundational aspect of the decision making process also, but this form of organization is not a necessary component of a resource based economy.
