The results are in! The silent majority votes #Rust, while vocal individuals bring other options to the table. Out of these, #gleamlang and #swift look the most interesting. Gleam doesn't built to PlayDate, but on the other hand the website uses large, friendly letters.

The plan:
1) Try Gleam for a small-ish project to publish to web and desktop.
2) If I like how that works out, see if I can get it ported to PlayDate
3) If that doesn't work, just stick to Lua for now.

@Braininabowl Anyway, you should use #Gleamlang. It simply has the best language design I've ever seen. Tooling and philosophy is perfect. Stack overflow agrees. It is state of the art and what other languages will converge towards.
