The goal of gender liberation is to achieve gender liberation for all. Insisting that people who challenge traditional gender roles must identify as nonbinary, trans, or queer is not truly radical. Limiting our imagination and falling into identity policing occurs when we insist that those who break gender norms must necessarily identify outside the traditional gender binary. Straight cis men and women also have the right to challenge and break gender rules.

As queer and trans people, we must resist the temptation to become the gender police.

True gender liberation involves allowing free expression of our full humanity and precious uniqueness, without succumbing to pressure to hide parts of ourselves. We can achieve this no matter our gender identity or sexual orientation.

I believe in gender liberation.

Female oppression and the oppression of women is real and it sucks. I hate that a false hierarchy of male over female (and by extension man over woman) has been created in so many societies and religions — and I hate that some feminists are insisting on maintaining that hierarchy just so they can be transphobic. I hate that some feminists think this means we need to destroy religion, thereby invalidating and erasing the work of millions of feminists of faith who have worked so hard for equality within their religions.

Male and female aren’t as different as extremists on both sides want you to believe. Males and females are in fact equal! We are in fact biologically very similar. Sex is not and has never been a binary; it is a spectrum, with a bimodal distribution. Believing in bioessentialism, that there is an insurmountable gulf between male and female, and that males and females have inherent traits and behaviors, is antifeminist.

Gender, as a social construct, is complicated. It can be a form of euphoric expression, a way to connect to your culture or religion or ethic identity and express joy in belonging, to connect to your ancestors and your descendants — but it can be also way for that culture to oppress you.

Trans people are on the forefront of dissecting all of this, of playing with gender and sex in ways that tease it apart from the oppressive systems our societies built simultaneously with these identities. We are, in essence, abolishing the traditional social construct of gender and building it anew as as a form of individual human expression, not a system of oppression linked to birth sex.

And if gender critical feminists, radfems, and gender abolitionists aren’t on board with that, then I’m not sure what more trans folks could possibly do.

The "genderless society" of radfem gender abolitionists is identical to the way patriarchal society looks right now. "Man/woman" won't be genders anymore, they'll be synonyms for male/female. Pronouns will be based on sex assigned at birth. A person will have to dress and act in a way that conforms to the patriarchal gendered stereotypes attached to sex they were assigned at birth so everyone knows what pronouns to use. Somehow, doing this (aka doing things exactly how we are doing them right now) means gender stereotypes will disappear and females will have as many rights as males... according to radfems. I don't buy it.

Instead, we can be gender liberationists. We can support trans and GNC people. We can decouple gender from sex. We can decouple pronouns from sex and from gender. We can disrupt gender stereotypes. We can actually fight for equality between all people.

That's my goal.

Fascists and Proud Boys escalated, trying to start a fight. Police did nothing of course yet queer anti-fascists were ready to defend themselves and bash the fash!!! But the fash were cowards and ran away 🤣

Anarchafeminists defended trans liberation on the front lines! As capitalism dies, it empowers assholes like Proud Boys to try to save itself… But our community will not allow trans comrades to be burned at the stake of American greed and bigotry!

The Newsletters wants to call attention to something really beautiful: the organizers, the self-proclaimed “leaders” wanted to go home. The crowd didn’t. And so, the organizers went home and the crowd stayed with antifascists and anarchist to keep chanting!

Anti-fascists handed out these fliers to folx passing by. The vast majority were revolted by the hatred of the fascists and supported counterprotesters, especially the attendees of the Audacy Beach Festival nearby.

In Lakeland FL, another hate rally organized by Nazis targeted a kid friendly show. Florida Nazis are pissed that the Proud Boys and Chris Nelson rejected their support in Broward. Anti-trans hate rallies took place in Columbus, Ohio (with guns) and Staten Island, New York. Stochastic terrorists also attempted a bombing targeting a doctor in Boston, Massachusetts and destroyed multiple power stations by shooting them in Moore County, Tennessee — cutting off power to 40,000 residents. Reports of threats came from Illinois and anti-fascists everywhere on Turtle Island stood up to violence in their communities.

In so-called South Florida, we won and we will continue to win.
