Why I've hung onto using my birth name for so long and what that's meant to me and my gender: https://mailchi.mp/7220a53632d6/issue-93-erica-kane

Maybe that puts me somewhere under the #nonbinary umbrella. Or maybe I’m an #egg that’s only just started to crack. Or maybe I’m just a #cis guy who sometimes likes #femme stuff. I don’t know. But being surrounded by so many amazing #trans people on the fediverse has me feeling for the first time like it’s worth digging into some of my #genderfeelings—they’ve always been there but just never felt like a priority.

A thread about #knitting and being #trans and #genderFeelings:

In September 2019 I defended my master’s thesis.

The last few months of thesis writing I wasn’t allowed to knit, because I was having RSI issues, and I needed to save my hands and wrists for typing.

I ordered a sweater’s-worth of yarn, and told myself that my reward for finishing my thesis was getting to cast on the sweater.

I posted on #instagram about my #topsurgery with some photos. I also posted a warning due to them being graphic for those who are sensitive to post-op topics. Feel free to check it out!

Desmond C. Feaithil on Instagram: "Hello Everyone! ~~ It has been a month since something fantastic has happened to me! After so many years of wishing and waiting, I finally had a surgical procedure that was absolutely life changing — I had my coveted top surgery as a transgender individual! It was performed at GRS/CMC Montréal by the talented Dr. Laungani and their supporting team + staff who made my experience something to forever remember. The procedure gave me renewed hope, affirmation and the confirmation that I’ve been heard and accepted. I was accompanied by my wonderful and faithful childhood friend. Her presence by my side during this part of my journey was another bright light added to the transformation that I couldn’t have done without. I feel so much more comfortable and confident in my body! In the meantime, my focus is to continue healing during these days of celebration, taking care of myself and following my aftercare instructions. The drains have been removed after having them for nearly three weeks. I had a slight issue with an internal bleed that caused a bruise on my left hip which is currently dissipating as we speak. Ultimately though, I wanted to keep this news under wraps until I knew I was recovering well. Everything went smoothly, the grafts have taken and when the next 5 weeks are over, I’ll gradually be returning to my physical training. Enjoy the cheerful holidays, happy Hanukkah, happy Kwanzaa and merry Christmas! Wishing you a wonderful Yuletide festivities! With warm regards, -Me. 😄 PS: Official day of procedure, Nov.23rd 2022 . . . . . . . . . . #grsmontreal #surgery #doublemastectomy #topsurgery #gendernonconforming #transgender #transmasc #transman #transmale #trans #ftm #twospirit #nonbinary #masculinization #lgbt #lgbtq #2slgbtqia #pridemonth #pride #métis #dream #wishuponastar #lifelong #dysphoria #onestepcloser #winter #holidays #yule #newyear #newyear2023"

It took me failing to correctly remove, & then catastrophically chipping away at 3 home-spun gel manicures before I invested properly in a removal procedure & tools that work without damaging the everloving fuck out of my nails, but I have finally accomplished the tools to both apply & remove gels, & intend to have awesome nails for the foreseeable future. 💅 #highfemme #genderfeelings
