I can never thank the #GardenStateSocial community enough for the amazing financial support of New Jersey's biggest, oldest, and best mastodon server.
I use the funds to not only pay our amazing host @hosting but also to find artists and fund NJ exclusive art.

We didn't have a rule for this on #GardenStateSocial but I'm making it official on our server rules.
We will not allow accounts for companies that are not based in New Jersey.
I was already blocking account that signed up for this purpose. When you ban them and allow the email notification to be send they often auto respond claiming to have followed all the rules. So now there is a clear rule.

here are some fun #GardenStateSocial facts that make us a good candidate:
- We are all about finding folks geographically close to us.
- Currently patreon raises $44 a month to cover server costs from 9 amazing members.
- Our current plan from @hosting cover up to 250 active users (currently between 50 - 75) and the cost step up to 750 is very reasonable!
I always use some of the funds from the gardenstate.social patreon to hire illustrators to make art for our instance.
Anyone have good ideas of what kind of art we could commission next?

In Mastodon v4.4.0 instance owners can enable HTTP referrers.
If somebody clicks a link in a Mastodon post (e.g. to a news article), the link target owner (such as the news site operator) can see that a user from that instance has visited their website.
They do _only_ get the instance domain (e.g. gardenstate.social). No information about the user!
That being said I think gardenstate.social is probably too small to turn this on. Let me know if you feel different!
