Roma, 20 mag. (Adnkronos Salute) - "Dal 2005 abbiamo dati che dimostrano come sia tecnicamente possibile effettuare un test genomico sul campione bioptico, ottenendo risultati altamente sovrapponibili a quelli ricavati dal campione tumorale definitivo. Questo è il primo elemento che deve essere compreso e recepito nella pratica clinica". Lo ha detto Carmine De Angelis, oncologo dell'Istituto nazionale tumori Irccs Fondazione G. Pascale, intervenendo oggi a Napoli all'incontro 'Genomics at Work: The Evolution of the Patient Journey in Early Breast Cancer', dedicato all'evoluzione delle cure nel tumore del seno in stadio precoce.
"Effettuare il test sul campione bioptico - chiarisce l'esperto - permette al gruppo multidisciplinare di avere indicazioni utili già nelle prime fasi del percorso terapeutico. Questo significa ridurre i tempi decisionali, ma anche l'ansia delle pazienti legata all'attesa dei risultati. Oggi abbiamo a disposizione nuove opportunità terapeutiche che potrebbero essere integrate nella pratica clinica. Per questo motivo, la possibilità di ottenere un rimborso del test genomico effettuato sui campioni bioptici rappresenterebbe un passaggio auspicabile. Non si tratta soltanto di anticipare i tempi - conclude De Angelis - ma anche di implementare strategie terapeutiche innovative e sempre più personalizzate, migliorando l'efficacia delle cure e la qualità del percorso assistenziale delle pazienti".

Pascale, speaking today in Naples at the meeting ‘Genomics at Work: The Evolution of the Patient Journey in Early Breast Cancer’, dedicated to the evolution of treatments in early stage breast cancer.
“Conducting the test on the biopsy sample – explains the expert – allows the multidisciplinary team to have useful indications already in the early phases of the therapeutic pathway. This means reducing decision-making times, but also the anxiety of patients related to waiting for the results. Today we have at our disposal new therapeutic opportunities that could be integrated into clinical practice. For this reason, the possibility of obtaining reimbursement for the genomic test performed on biopsy samples would represent a desirable step. It’s not just about anticipating the times – concludes De Angelis – but also about implementing innovative and increasingly personalized therapeutic strategies, improving the effectiveness of treatments and the quality of the patient’s care pathway.”
