I don't have the privilege of removing myself from their presence, because it's the VAST majority of my community. I care about them like I care about the deer in my back yard and the trees by the creek - they are a part of my environment.
I cannot be aggressive because they'll respond in kind, and that's just sinking to their level. I'll never gain ground.
