Came across this ad in the course of my New York #klezmer research on jpress. I've seen many ads like this for historic balls with Jewish orchestras but never seen one that lists all the dances in the newspaper ad itself 😯 so far no I've sent it to seems impressed lol. But it is an interesting piece of evidence that so many of the old country dances were still popular in mid 1920s New York. (This is from the Morgn Frayhayt, 2 October 1926.)

Nat Seelen, founder and artistic director of the #Boston Festival of New Jewish Music & clarinetist in Ezekiel's Wheels Klezmer Band came out with a book of his new #klezmer dance #compositions "56 New Klezmer Tunes for Dancing, Volume 1"
Will have to buy it sometime and take a look 🤓🎶

My latest #blog post, trying to sort and make a bit more sense of all the scores I got from the Library of Congress from #klezmer bandleader and recording artist Israel J. Hochman. I made a table trying to connect his music manuscripts to commercial #78rpm recordings by Hochman's various groups in the 1910s and 20s.
