As noted before (https://mastodon.social/@65dBnoise/111338171308855175), it appeared that #Flight64 put #Ingenuity in an awkward position 🙃 . With images from the takeoff of #Flight65 now in, we can see that that was indeed the case. It had landed with one foot on the crest of a rather unstable regolith ripple:

The rover has now reached Jurabi Point, where three rock units appear to intersect: the Upper Fan sedimentary rocks, the Boulder-rich Unit, and the Margin Unit. After possibly collecting one more sample here, #Perseverance will conclude its Upper Fan Campaign.

What lies ahead? the Jezero Crater Margin Campaign, lasting from Fall 2023 to Spring 2024. It's that rocky area, the north part of which #Ingenuity was sent to scout on #Flight64

Either this was the plan and the announcement wrongly stated "Heading: North" or something went wrong and #Ingenuity ended up landing NNW instead of N.

Here is my estimate of the flight path for #Flight64, based on 2 HELI_NAV and 2 HELI_RTE images, as marked on the map.

The second RTE image, with its cyan FOV marked RTE-2, is the one with the panoramic view of Neretva Vallis, seen here: https://mastodon.social/@65dBnoise/111325609636354586

#Ingenuity flew #Flight64 on Sol 955, which appears to be a day later than planned.

Here is one image from its approach to the landing site:

Quite unbelievably, the #MarsHelicopter #Ingenuity is going to land on one of the regolith megaripples inside the ancient riverbed of Neretva Vallis 😲

And while this is happening on the ground, #Ingenuity gets ready to take to the skies for its #Flight64, the day after tomorrow 😀
Where to: 408m to the north.
