Lightning strikes in SW Oregon. Hopefully the chance of lingering showers makes an impact on current fire events. #orwx #hilary #tshilary #wx #FireSeason2023 #wildfire
My people are out of #yellowknife, two are still making the slow, crowded journey south. Of the things they left behind, hoping they will be there when (if) they can return: a bookstore, jobs, a new house, a house just listed for sale, prized possessions, livelihoods. Thankfully they were able to drive so they could bring their pets. I’ve heard of at least one who had to leave pets behind. 💔 #Yellowknife #yk #nwt #evacuation #fireseason2023 #nwtwildfires
Spare a thought for Yellowknife, currently closed in on all sides by fires. https://www.cbc.ca/amp/1.6935983 According to one local tiktoker I saw, the city of YK won’t share the emergency plan and there are few road exits left. #climatechange #wildfire #yellowknife #fireseason2023
Wildfire breach of control lines west of Yellowknife now 'significant'

Fire officials in the N.W.T. were expecting "serious challenges" on Monday battling wildfire northwest of Yellowknife, with strong winds expected to push the fire to the south and east.

Finally, the last large air tanker to arrive at MCC for the #fireseason2023 is Neptune Aviation’s T01 on July 8 down from Minnesota. The BAe 146 aircraft is equipped with the Active Response drop system capable of delivering a payload of 3,000 gallons of fire retardant. #avgeek #AvgeeksofMastodon #wildfire #Californiawildfire
The other large air tanker based at MCC fire base is T210…she has been fighting the #whittlefire and she is headed back to the retardant pits. This 737 was formerly in the Southwest Airlines passenger fleet. Converted by Coulson Aviation Australia for the New South Wales Rural Fire Service this “fireliner” has had various roles supporting efforts for the Forest Service (USFS)…this year #Calfire contracted her for 90 days as no other airtankers were left available for #fireseason2023 #avgeek
As #fireseason2023 takes off in #California this is a great announcement about FIRIS …here’s the story…Under the leadership of OCFireAuthority, the #FIRIS program has provided real-time intel to ground crews responding to the 2022 #wildfires. #Californiawildfire
In 2023 and going forward, FIRIS will be jointly operated by #CalOES & #CALFIRE through the state's Fire & Rescue Mutual Aid System on all-hazards incidents. #wildfire #avgeek
Forest Service boards are up now saying very high fire danger rightfully so green here just 6 weeks ago everything's drying out on the CA side of the #ColoradoRiver. Smokey the Bear said only you can prevent forest fires still holds true today. No fireworks! #cawx #Californiawildfire #wildfire #fireseason2023 #fireworks
@Precis we’re only excepting some thunderstorms in the mountains today, which could possibly, trigger some more #WildFires , just 2 so far this #FireSeason2023 . The once lush green of #WashingtonState are slowly/quickly browning around the edges; and it’s such a scary part of #ClimateChange and leaving my nieces and nephews with a disastrous future with higher year round temperatures, less potable water, and less food growth/production which will affect generations yet to be.
