Frank Wright Trio is the debut album by saxophonist Frank Wright. It was recorded in November 1965 in New York City, released by ESP-Disk in 1966.. On the album, Wright is joined by bassist Henry Grimes and drummer Tom Price

In an article for All About Jazz, Clifford Allen commented:

The opening 'The Earth' starts with a brief vibrato-heavy and bluesy slow theme on unaccompanied tenor that quickly erupts into a frantic screamer of a solo, a mix of buzzing upper-register cries and low bleating honks, occasional recognizable stock R&B phrases making their way into the melange... Unlike Ayler, there is not a significant amount of solo construction, for it appears Wright was throwing together ideas in a spirit of jubilation. The rhythm section is certainly strong and experienced, and are given ample duet room after Wright's solo ends."

College Tour by Patty Waters, released on ESP-Disk in 1966.

"In the Spring of 1966, ESP was given a grant by the New York State Council on the Arts, to tour the five colleges in the state with music departments. Artists for this tour included the Sun Ra Arkestra, Burton Greene, Patty Waters, Giuseppi Logan and Ran Blake. Accompanied by an all star backup group from among the participants, Patty's performances resulted in the album, "College Tour", her second recording for ESP-Disk'. The album expands upon the vocal acrobatics that were heard on her first recording, "Sings". "College Tour" won second place for Vocal Recording in Jazz and Pop Magazine in 1970."

Explosions is the second album by the Bob James Trio. It was recorded at Bell Sound Studios in New York City during May 1965, and was released later that year by ESP-Disk. On the album, James is featured on piano, and is joined by bassist Barre Phillips and drummer Robert Pozar. The album also features tape collages by composers Gordon Mumma and Robert Ashley. It is an early example of electro-acoustic jazz.

In a review for AllMusic, "Blue" Gene Tyranny called the album "probably the first recording of improvised jazz combined with electronic music, as well as playing inside the piano and other new music techniques," and noted that it "contains lively and often humorous compositions." - Wikipedia

Finally getting around to listening to some of the music I got with my Constellation Records subscription. Free jazz band Bellbird released The Call last month, and it's quite good! At times chaotic and intense, at others very deliberate and beautiful. Would recommend.

Enza Alessandra Prestia vove percussioni e corde

Edoardo Marraffa sassofono
