A couple of lovely #F1retro shots from
Detroit and Long Beach 1983 found on facebook.
McLaren MP4/1 TAG turbo stripped, the size of that fuel tank!
Williams FW08 Cosworth, note gear lever and exposed coilovers.

Some small new details on the McLaren.
Little flicks on the roll hoop area.
Plus, a Ferrari style horizontal vane across the flow teeth.

Further development on Ferrari's exhaust flap.
You can see how useful it is in creating upwash between the diffuser and top rear wing, by the vortex generators added to the hump behind the exhaust

The other change Ferrari have made is the return of the halo wing. This had to be remade in carbon fibre, in order to meet the regulations that demand the halo fairing is made from the prescribed laminate. The original was in some form of clear plastic.

Here's a curious part, from BAR, a final drive gear. But, it looks like a spool (locked) differential.
Rare, but spools were used in #F1 back in the day, mainly at tracks like Monza, were a differential wasn't needed.

Back in 1983, before active & FRIC suspension, Ligier #F1 tested a Citroën hydraulic suspension.
You can see the pressure vessel on the top of the chassis.
I've never found any other details on it (?). As it was soon dropped for a conventional set-up. #F1Tech #F1retro
