One lesson about living in The Netherlands that I learned the hard way: in case of a power outage in your house (especially on a snowy Sunday), do not call an electrician!

They're going to ask you a freaking lot of money and sell you ridiculously overpriced spare parts, leveraging your feeling of not having any other choice to get your electricity and heat back.

Call the national number 08009009 instead.
You'll get in contact with you area's specific network provider and they'll get to your place within 2 hours and help you for way lower rates (and, possibly, for free).
