President Trump has fired Attorney General Pam Bondi amid reports of his growing frustration with her failure to prosecute his political enemies and her handling of the Epstein files. Bondi, Florida’s former attorney general, was a Trump loyalist who openly heaped praise on the president and did away with the long-standing Department of Justice practice of maintaining political independence from the White House. “She came in and did the master’s bidding, and she did it poorly,” says David Cole, law professor at Georgetown University and former national legal director of the American Civil Liberties Union. Her firing comes just months after a heated congressional hearing in which she refused to apologize to Epstein survivors for the DOJ’s failure to fully redact their names in released documents. Bondi was subpoenaed to appear before the House Oversight Committee on April 14 to speak about her handling of the Epstein files. “The fact that she has now been run out of office does not mean that she is free of the obligation that every American citizen has to respond to a subpoena and answer questions under oath,” says Cole.
yahoo news | Fact Check: Image of Trump, Epstein with young female and children is fake....
The image that surfaced online in early 2026 claimed to show former President Donald Trump standing beside the dead financier Jeffrey Epstein, with Epstein’s arm around a young woman while a group of five children looked on. The photograph was posted with a handwritten caption reading “7/7/97” and circulated after the Department of Justice released a massive cache of files related to the Epstein investigation in January 2026. Social‑media users presented the picture as authentic evidence of wrongdoing, urging immediate arrests and impeachment.
Snopes’ fact‑check found the picture to be a fabricated AI‑generated image. Close inspection revealed classic AI flaws: Trump and several children displayed an incorrect number of fingers, hands and faces were poorly rendered, and Epstein’s hair appeared dark brown—contradicting verified Getty Images photos from 1997 that show him with light grey hair. Reverse‑image searches turned up no earlier versions of the picture, and the alleged DOJ document that supposedly contained the photo (“EFTA01660679”) actually held no images. Because of these inconsistencies, the image was rated “Fake.”
While Trump’s past association with Epstein is well documented—reports confirm a friendship that ended years before Epstein’s 2019 arrest—no evidence links Trump directly to the crimes detailed in the DOJ files, and he has faced no formal charges. The presence of a person’s name or likeness in the released files does not imply guilt. Snopes has repeatedly covered misinformation surrounding the Epstein files, emphasizing the importance of scrutinizing visual claims for AI‑generated manipulation.
