Towpath Singers in session last night. Our regular pub has closed, temporarily we hope, and so we're in a skittle alley behind a different pub. Lots of pubs are struggling, lots are closing, and in a small town like #BradfordOnAvon their loss as community spaces is keenly felt.

New tune I learnt earlier today, and you can tell I like it because I thought I'd video it. It's reminiscent of several other triple hornpipes I already play, but that ascending run at the end just makes it for me. Playing my new riot mandolin, which I'm starting to really like a lot. Tune is called The Presbyterian Hornpipe.

Last night, this #trad #shanty was renamed in honour of the nation's favourite meterologist of 2017, Tomasz Schafernaker, because we wanted to excise racist language. Don't come at me with the tired old "reflecting the language of the time" excuse. A tradition is either alive, in which case it needs to move on and excise the racist shit, or it's dead and we are merely historians and archivists, in which case we don't need to go out and sing it.
Work in progress. Finally back in the studio, getting some new tunes up and running. Lads of Alnwick is an absolute banger, and doesn't really need anything fancy in terms of an arrangement, just let the tune speak for itself I reckon. This tune has the advantage of being pretty well known, so I'll be getting guests in on this!
