The Maya Train has placed the municipality of Felipe Carrillo Puerto on a path of accelerated development that, so far, has only brought them insecurity. Determined to defend their culture, at the Maya School of the U Kúuchil K Ch’i’ibalo’on community center, children are weaving their own history as a way to protect their identity and their territory.

Of course when I went looking for the Carrickmacross scissors (special tiny ones with one duck-bill side so you don't cut your netting, which I did on the first piece)--I found myself unable to resist another pair of #embroidery scissors too.

I got the 1892 reproduction #Salem #Witch ones.

Framing prints for the @peakdistrictartisans #WinterArtFair today - with a dodgy thumb (albeit in a slightly smaller new dressing) is an experience! I won't have the original of my latest piece "This 'Ol House" with me this weekend, as it was a commission and already sold. But I will have full size and miniature giclee prints. Luckily I had signed them before the mandolin incident!
