In random news, my reprint copy of the ElfQuest RPG has finally arrived because, yes, I was exactly the type of person to back that Kickstarter.

I've talked about it before, but #ElfQuest was one of first non-D&D games I played. I had such a thing for Kahvi (which may explain some poor choices in my past 😉). Her relationship with Tyldak remains one of my favorite in the series. They are both deeply flawed, struggling, and it's never perfect, but they find something in each other. I like that.

Fondé le 31 octobre 1975, Chaosium, éditeur de "L'Appel de Cthulhu", de "Runequest", de "Pendragon", du "Basic roleplaying System" (que j'ai utilisé pour la première version de "Kosmos"), et de bien d'autres, a 50 ans.
(Et comme pour tous les anniversaires, je suis en retard de deux jours.)
Je me demande quels sont les plus anciens éditeurs français/européens de jdr encore actifs, tiens.

Today, on Halloween, The Chaosium officially turns 50 years old. On October 31, 1975 our founder Greg Stafford went down to the Alameda County Clerk’s office and filed the paperwork to officially register the company. Greg named us The Chaosium as a tribute to its birth as a “house of Chaos” near the Oakland Colosseum. Summing up 50 years of Chaosium’s achievements and legacy in a few sentences is a daunting task. Our first game was the fantasy wargame White Bear & Red Moon, followed by our first magazine Wyrms Footnotes. Since then, we have published over 700 more games and supplements, including RuneQuest, Call of Cthulhu, Basic Roleplaying, Pendragon, ElfQuest, and Rivers of London, to name but a few. From our humble start in the San Francisco Bay area, with the passing of each year, and with the debut of each new game, the company’s impact has quietly spread around the world. Alongside of that, and most importantly, the number of people who joined our Chaosium community also quickly grew. Each Chaosium game, and each book has its own unique story worth celebrating. Describing all of those games, the awards they’ve earned, and all of the interesting times the company has faced since 1975 could fill many pages. Inevitably, one cannot help but speculate about what Greg himself would say on our 50th anniversary: "Gee, guys, whatever you do don’t make it all about me!", and then he would remind us that "We are all Us." -- Chaosium 50th Anniversary display case at Gen Con 2025 -- Whether your fondness of, or connection to the company began yesterday, or decades ago our success all comes down to you. Our wonderful community, the Chaosium Tribe, is our greatest accomplishment. I don't do fanart often, but my very best friend in the whole world and an absolutely perfect human went to Comicon last week and met the Pinis, and they were kind enough to let her get a picture to send me! So I was inspired to do a quick doodle of Nightfall, which quickly led to doing ridiculous doodles of my characters dressing up as EQ folks for Halloween. My apologies to the Pinis, I couldn't help myself!

If you're not on Patreon, you probably don't recognize the three characters in the second comic. That's okay, they'll be along relatively soon!

Hah! The guy who plays Ben Grimm in the new Fantastic Four movie is an #elfquest fan.

“I was a comic book fan, but the comic books I read when I was a kid were more like the cheaper kind of ones I could get from the five-cent bin,” the actor told me Tuesday at the Los Angeles premiere of “The Bear” Season 3. “I liked ‘Archie,’ some ‘Richie Rich.’ I really liked ‘Groo.’ I liked ‘ElfQuest’ a lot. I think some of my earliest sexual visions were ‘ElfQuest.’”
