#YellowCenterlines give #drivers the wrong idea about how to share our limited street space. This bus driver is giving lots of room, and driving where they would be if #Terwilliger were an #edgeLaneRoad makes for a much safer and more pleasant #pdxBikes experience, even as the bus passes us going uphill. Wider bike lanes and a narrower shared center space would reduce speeds and put the conflict between streams of traffic with matching bumpers, requiring drivers to slow down and pay attention.

These are common in Dutch & Danish cycle networks. Why?

#BikeNite A8 @carolski #pedalPaloozaPDX is an amazing 3-month-long thing but the picture I have from this ride shows a poorly-designed #EdgeLaneRoad / #AdvisoryBikeLanes design (shoulda had a shared central lane narrower than 2.5 car widths) with door-zone lane outside of parking and a car parked in the way for the cherry on top. #PBOT #ClimateWishing #TrafficEngineering
Besides counting the bollards in this video (#bollards are one cost-effective way that smart #TrafficEngineers make it impossible to drive a car onto bikeways & small bridges without #consent), also dig this #EdgeLaneRoad / #AdvisoryBikeLanes setup as a fiscally responsible alternative to yellow #CenterLines and free #Parking vs #InducedDemand for #BikesAsTransportation #ClimateAction #VisionZero etc. Note small child riding their own 🚲 https://youtu.be/wnj7HGRwEsk
