In early 2021, Ethiopian PM Abyi Ahmed has denounced the 1902 treaty and claimed the Al #Fashaga region. #Amhara regional forces and militias, alongside elements of the federal #ENDF, have attempted an invasion from March 2021. They had been routed in the summer.

Since then, and despite Emirati and South Sudanese mediation attempts, tensions remained high and border skirmishes prevalent.

#Ethiopia 🇪🇹: #Fano militias reportedly captured several #ENDF soldiers in North Shewa Zone, #Amhara Region.

As a result several PK/Type 80 machine guns, #Iran-made 🇮🇷 KL-103 assault rifles and a #Chinese 🇨🇳 Type 56-1 were captured by Fano as well.

As a result group captured Trophies, an uncommon #Russian 🇷🇺 AK-203 rifle and #Chinese 🇨🇳 Type 56(-1) assault rifles.

Two Iranian KL-103 rifles, a Chinese Type 56-1 rifle, two 82mm O821 HE mortar bombs (made in #Sudan) and F-1 grenades can be seen.
