The #British emigrant #ship #Josephine #Willis sank off #Kent near #Folkestone in 1856 while transporting people to #NewZealand. 70 lives were lost, including #Captain #Edward #Canney. The ship lies in 2 parts on the #seabed, 23 metres #deep.

The ship contained a large quantity of exceptionally #rare #ceramics. Many are in pristine condition and are unknown in current #museum collections.
