I'm having fun this afternoon testing out #deskreen (https://deskreen.com/) to use my phone as a second screen.

Following along with a zoom call while chopping veggies in the kitchen? Don't mind if I do!

Ok, I finally got a chance to try #Deskreen, and it wasn't quite what I thought.

I thought it would let you turn any device into an additional monitor. Rather, it allows you to *mirror* your monitor (or the window of an app of your choosing).
Not quite the same thing.

The *good* thing is that the window display will continue to update even if it is covered by another window, or on another desktop, so it'd be great for a status window.

But it's not a second monitor.

Still crazy cool, though

Recommended #opensource #screen #mirroring and #secondscreen solution on #Linux: #Deskreen

Why? - Share whole desktop or app windows with multiple devices (#browser) on same #LAN · Turn browsers into second screens and work on all (#HDMI / #DP / #VGA virtual adapters needed) · Encrypted connections · #Teleprompter (mirrored) mode · #QR codes: easy setup for devices w/ cam · Adjustable video bandwidth

Cool: Mit #Deskreen wird mein #Shift13mi zum externen Monitor meines #Tuxedo-Laptops. Geht natürlich auch umgekehrt. 😎

@pojntfx For me the perfect laptop would be one that run Linux and *BSD without drivers issues, but also with an HHKB Keyboard (don’t even need a mouse).
That’s why for now I like to take with me my HHKB with iPad Pro as my terminal connected to remote server, or local GPD Win 3 or Raspberry Pi.
Or eventually the HHKB Connected to the GPD with the iPad Pro used as a second bigger screen with #deskreen 😇
