CBS News chief Bari Weiss tells staff 'we're toast' without change
CBS News chief Bari Weiss told her staff that “we're toast” if the network continues with its current business strategy and invoked legendary newsman Walter Cronkite as a symbol of old thinking. Three months into her job, Weiss delivered an address to CBS News employees on Tuesday. She's quickly become a polarizing figure in journalism and a headline-maker, notably holding back a “60 Minutes” piece critical of the Trump administration's deportation policy for migrants. Weiss said CBS News needs to adopt a streaming first mentality and open itself to a diversity of opinions. She named a group of 18 new contributors to CBS News.
