@vampiress oh also, while I might 🤤 over the watch (but almost certainly will never buy it), I got ~87.56% of the experience & joy by just making a custom #DSKY watch face for my Apple watch to wear during the expo weekend 💁‍♀️

@vampiress I have a full-size #DSKY case 3D print already (for my #AGC display at the CBR vintage computer expo) & am aiming to have all the electronics done for the next one – if you want one let me know & I’ll just double the parts order for the stuff I can’t get printed 💁‍♀️

(I also still have a few spare super-cute mini-DSKYs left, let me know if you want one & we’ll make it happen 🙃)

Annoying that I negated to paste in the key antibiotic resistance over time plots!🤦‍♂️ #DSky #ClinMicro #UTISky #AMR #medsky

DSKY is always so neat.

For those impatient: zoom to 14:14 for more action, (and well, 17:01 for turning the thing on)

Repairing A Real (and Broken) Apollo-era DSKY

The Display/Keyboard unit – DSKY for short – is the primary way that Apollo-era astronauts communicated with the onboard computers. Not all DSKYs ended up in space, however, with the MI…

It’s sometimes amusing to listen to some of the air to ground transmission on the #Apollo flights. A lot of the chatter is the #astronauts talking about #poo, actually #p00, with no hint of adolescent smirking, like this gem on #Apollo12:
109:46:48 Conrad: And, Houston, whenever you’re ready, we’re ready to give you P00 and Data.
P00 was the quiescent state of the #Guidance #Computer where it was ready to receive instructions and data either from the #DSKY #keyboard or #Houston.

A DIY E-Ink Tank Watch

[Augusto Marinucci] liked the classic Cartier Tank series of dress watches aesthetic, but wanted something a bit more techy, with a decent runtime on a single battery. E-Ink displays are often used…

The #Apollo Display-Keyboard interface, or #DSKY (disky) provided a way for the Apollo astronauts to interact with the guidance computer and enter commands.
The #AGC was one of the first #computers to use integrated circuits. One was installed on both the Apollo #spacecraft and the Lunar Module.
This AGC was used on the #Apollo10 mission and is on display at the Apollo/Saturn V Center at the Kennedy Space Center Visitors Complex.
