2) 4th grade Catechism went on and on about Impure Thoughts & Actions, Occasions of Sin, no context.
Asked the nuns what it meant, ha! they weren’t saying, if they even knew.
Later I got in bad odor - chose Martin Luther to write a report on…
”There was fantastic corruption in the Church at that time..."
Still, I was briefly inspired twd priesthood — because young Fr. Begin, of our parish, became a big name in antiwar protest…

1) Mysterious pregnancy of Mary - how did they know the child was not Joseph’s?
“Because she & Joseph were in (platonic) marriage”, said the nuns.
[in effect-- god knows how they expressed the idea]
“What? Never heard of that. Was that a thing with young Jewish people at that time?”
[we more or less asked]
“Oh, they only cared about God & stuff”
[Some of us knew more than others, about Family Life, I suppose … mostly we had not the foggiest]
