#gardening report: Lunch in the garden is so peaceful and relaxing. However, #cycling here was an exercise in very high revs as I rode only in one gear. First to the bike shop to get derailleur adjusted, or new chain, or whatever needs to be done so the bike stops throwing the chain. At the bike shop, there's a handmade sign: Closed Tues, Sept 30....now I remember from two years ago that the last day of Sept is inventory day. OK, so high revs to the garden, water, eat, harvest, continue cleanup, eat, then hi revs home. #gyo #GrowFoodFromSeed #CycleEverywhere #BeautifulDay
#gardening report: transplanted farm purchased flowers and set out around the house. Thinned the calendula, dill, and basil sprouts. #cycled instead of more work. Gotta put the chitting potatoes into garage to hold until after much wetter and cooler weather passes next week. Still have tomatoes, peppers, calendula, orchids outside, but orchids come in at night. #gyo #GrowFoodFromSeeds #CycleEverywhere
#gardening report: #cycled to the allotment, weeded, watered, ate pb&j, cycled home. Raspberries starting to show buds.....gotta wait til mid July to enjoy them. #gyo #GrowFoodFromSeds #CycleEverywhere #raspberry
#gardening report: sowed cukes at home, took everything else outside. #cycled to the allotment and prepped 5 smart bags (no AI were harmed) for planting potatoes, sowed sunflower seeds, and brought home a small harvest of lettuces, arugulas, and spinach. #gyo #GrowFoodFromSeeds #CycleEverywhere
#gardening report: Cycled to the allotment, weeded, and put down straw between the rows. Used to use salt marsh hay, but stayed local for this purchase. Back home, rolled canna lilies out of their winter spots in the garage, freshened them up, put out front, and added verbena, petunias, and pansies as fillers. Brought small plants back inside just as storm hit. Oh, and swapped out the snow blower for the mower. #gyo #GrowFoodFromSeed #CycleEverywhere
Every time I ride my bike, even if just a short ride to do an errand, I wonder why: a) I don't ride more often; and, b) how can we share this simple joy so others might ride instead of driving? #cycling #CycleEverywhere #CarFree #Errands
This heavy basket, plus a bag of similar size full of green produce on ice, is making me consider getting a trailer for my bike. #gardening #gyo #GrowFoodFromSeeds #Share #CycleEverywhere
Today's garden harvest just about hit the limit to what I'm comfortable carrying in the bike panniers: 27lbs (12.2k) of multiple types of tomatoes, including 2 Black Krim heirlooms. Green and red peppers (some sweet, some Hot), cukes, basil, lettuce, arugula, kale, green beans, tiny yellow squash (I gave away two large yellow squash before riding home). #gardening #gyo #GrowFoodFromSeeds #Share #CycleEverywhere
Cooling on this very humid day: there was 0% chance of rain until I cycled to garden, now waiting on thunderstorm front to move thru, but the rain and temp drop is refreshing. #gardening #cycling #CycleEverywhere #WeatherForecast #DifficultTask #SummerStorms
Just home from the garden, and eBike battery was at 1 mile left. Table, before washing harvest, is a riot of summer colors. #gardening #cycling #gyo #GrowFoodFromSeeds #CycleEverywhere
