#gardening report: harvesting microgreens; sorting seeds into sowing order. #gyo #GrowFoodFromSeed
Wow, already having a hard time finding time to read my library book and, lo and behold, today's mail brings the Johnny's 2026 seed catalog. #reading #library #gardening #gyo #GrowFoodFromSeed
#gardening report: nice harvest after about 10 days away from the allotment. Zone 6b, collards and kale out in the open, the rest under row covers. #gyo #GrowFoodFromSeed
#gardening report: Yes, it is indeed colder at the allotment than at my house. Here's the frost damaged ageratum and dahlia. Big cleanup job today. Beds prepped for garlics, which are somewhere en route. Last year I planted them on 10 Nov, 2 days earlier than the year before. #gyo #GrowFoodFromSeed
#gardening report: The freeze and frost warnings are too numerous to ignore, so row covers on. Harvested the last of the zinnias, dahlias, ageratum, and carrots, the latter because rabbits were eating the plants. Flowers won't survive if the frost/freeze is heavy. Under covers are spinaches, lettuces, and arugulas, as well as calendula, even though it is supposedly frost hardy. #gyo #GrowFoodFromSeed
Looking for input, pros and cons, of garden plot design tools. Wanting features such as the basics of size, but including constraints such as a path must be here, raspberries grow here, and over there be dragons. Also want plant and succession planting recommendations based on the planting zone. All notes or suggestions gladly received with thanks. #gardening #gyo #GrowFoodFromSeed #Zone6b #Design #software #PlotPlan
#gardening report: Lunch in the garden is so peaceful and relaxing. However, #cycling here was an exercise in very high revs as I rode only in one gear. First to the bike shop to get derailleur adjusted, or new chain, or whatever needs to be done so the bike stops throwing the chain. At the bike shop, there's a handmade sign: Closed Tues, Sept 30....now I remember from two years ago that the last day of Sept is inventory day. OK, so high revs to the garden, water, eat, harvest, continue cleanup, eat, then hi revs home. #gyo #GrowFoodFromSeed #CycleEverywhere #BeautifulDay
#gardening report: Just me, the birds, and the bees at the allotment today. Harvested beans, planted spinaches and arugulas, cleaned up and brought home a few tomatoes. #gyo #GrowFoodFromSeed
It was mostly grab 'n go at the allotment today. Lots of tomatoes in various stages of ripeness, kale, collards, green beans, jalapeΓ±os, poblanos, sunflowers, zinnias, dahlias, and calendula. #gardening #gyo #GrowFoodFromSeed
