Got out this morning. Still not as far as I have been, but guess I’ve got to build up again over time.

Go again on Wednesday!

Wasn’t able to complete my run this morning and I’m quite disappointed with myself. It took another 5 days for me to get out on a run. That’s only 2 runs in a little over 2 weeks. 🤦‍♂️

It’s amazing whole quickly even a little bit of fitness can fall off. This is a kick up the arse I needed I think to keep going regularly.

Next run will be Monday morning!

First time I’ve been able to get out in 9 days, and it was tough after a break I didn’t want to have for various reasons, but I still managed to do 28 minutes this morning. Furthest I’ve done so far. 💪

Didn't make it to our local #parkrun this morning, but did get out for last run of Week 6 of #CouchTo5K (25 minutes running!). Was going to post about how my shiny new running shoes make it much easier but... #HowItStartedHowItIsGoing
@jamie I did #CouchTo5k last April (and am still running) and I remember the last few weeks being a bit frustrating because you’re so close to running for the target 30 minutes but just enjoy it and don’t push too hard. An injury now would be a huge mental hurdle. I had one in week 8 and it was really frustrating and although I got past it in a week or two it rocked my confidence.
So, it has been a slow burn, but testing the water on this running thing (not a thing I have done since being a kid...). Seems like this is a thing I can do, having just completed my first 20 minutes running (all the time!) thanks to #CouchTo5K Week 5. Maybe I'll get some running shoes? Hoping that an actual #parkrun is in my near future!

Oh I also got some new running shoes; an early birthday present from my mother-in-law.

Brooks Ghost 17. I wanted them as they make the trainers in wider sizes for people with wider feet like me.

They’re very comfortable and find myself aching less after a run than the shitty ones I picked up years and years ago now.

I’ve done four 25 minutes runs now. Today I tried upping the pace a bit to see if I could extend the distance a bit, but I don’t think I’m ready for that as I ended up going much slower towards the end and overall less distance than previous runs. Oh well, wanted to change it up a bit but it didn’t work out. I’ll keep going at a pace I’m more comfortable at from now on.

“Week 8” is three 28 minutes runs which doesn’t seem much of a difference, but I think I’d end up really pushing in those last 3 minutes so that’s probably the point.

25 minute run and “Week 6” of #CouchTo5K complete!

I’m getting there! 💪

What to you tend to listen to whilst running?

At the moment, I just have a playlist of music around the 150 BPM mark, however I’ve seen some listen to podcasts? I wonder if that makes it harder to keep to a particular pace, but makes it easier by being distracted when running might feel hard.
