5 weeks of #CouchTo5k completed.
The biggest increment so far. Going from 2 x 8 min, with a break, on the previous run, to a single 20 min run today.
The last 4 minutes was the killer and I slowed right down. But I got it done.
Start of week 5 of #CouchTo5k
Now all running segments are 5 minutes long. The first one was tough.
I’m trying to train myself to stop clock watching and just get into a sort of meditation to plough through it.
Minor milestone accomplished! I’ve just completed week three of #CouchTo5K. I used to run 5K quite regularly and did a weekly Park Run when I lived in London.
The combination or my advancing age, an extra child, and other commitments have all meant that my running habits have disappeared.
Although I religiously walk 10K steps every day, I’ve wanted to try to get back into running.
Getting three weeks under my belt now makes me feel like I’m finally starting to make it a regular habit… which I guess is the most essential aspect of it! 🏃♂️
#CouchTo5k #WatchTo5k The developer has replied and said he got complaints about the old voice, which is why he changed it, and having two voices would make the app too big.
But he appreciates the upset of changing it mid-programme, and has offered to send me a test build of the old version, so I can compete the programme with the old voice :-)
#CouchTo5k week 4 run 2
The second brutal run, a little easier this time, and a bit further so I got to the pretty spot.
Dodging showers today rather than lawn mowers. But I have my new waterproof hat.
Annoyingly my #WatchTo5k coach has been “upgraded” to an American 😞
I’ve sent a support ticket asking if the old voice can be offered as an option. She had a lovely mellow accent (maybe Irish or Scottish?)
Having your personal trainer “fired” without your consent is a bit of a rug-pull.
Monday again, but this morning I’m going to start my running regularly again.
Just haven’t been able to find time or motivation over the last month or so with work being as busy as it has been. I prefer running in the morning and there’s been too many early starts and trips to the office.
I think I’m going to go back some weeks in the Couch To 5K program and start again from there.
Started the NHS's Couch to 5k programme today. I even did it in public around the nearby green because it's so sunny and the closest thing to a circuit. I picked Sarah Millican as my "coach" because she doesn't talk as much but also sounds like home.
I was pretty nervous but I told myself there's nothing wrong or weird about exercising in public, and towards the end I got encouraging words from the neighbour down the street with the old chocolate lab!
