Any suggestions for reliable, ideally EU or UK based #webhosting for a UK #CommunityBusiness just needing a basic website and emails.. and no we don't want to do #SelfHosting before you all say that's easiest! We were with tsoHost for years who were initially great but that went horribly wrong in 2022 when they got bought out by someone bigger. We moved to Hosting Unlimited but having some issues around domains we have paid for but they haven't told Nominet so our site is suspended and pending deletion... and customer support is non existent. Any suggestions gratefully received.

I realise very few of you on here live close enough to do this.. but our #CommunityFridge in #Settle is one of the chosen good causes for the #Coop #LocalCommunityFund so we will get a % of what our supporters spend on their shopping. Don't mean this to be a rant.. but I don't think people realise how bad the funding crisis is in the UK for #UKCharity #CommunityBusiness and similar organisations doing great work. Increased costs of wages, National Insurance, energy bills, equipment, food at a time of increasing need and massive reduction in donations and grants available are all creating a real shit storm. Some funders are significantly changing priorities which means, in our case, we can no longer apply to some who have always supported us in the past. I know of several previously very successful organisations currently close to bankruptcy. We are OK ish for the next 6 months and have a good chunk of regular income from long term room hire which helps pay rent, bills and wages for our office manager.. but getting money for staffing is increasingly hard. The timescales involved in applying to some of the larger funders are a big factor too. The UK Lottery Community Fund take 16 weeks to make a decision and you can't apply until current funding is nearly finished. We are losing a key staff member soon - he's got a job elsewhere as his funding runs out end of this month and we don't yet know if we have Lottery money to pay his wages after that.

Moving away from #mailchimp for the community project I run and want something Europe based.. looking at #Brevo #Mailjet which both look fine and free versions will be more than enough for our needs..but just spotted #Systeme too which has email marketing but many other features which may be useful in the future. Any thoughts or comments from people using any of these. Only need it for general sporadic emails to our business and community supporters about events and news for now .. but may want to sell things like seeds, plants, recipe books, upcycled fabric things at some time in the future. #UkCharity #nonprofit #communitybusiness

Online funding application moan.. I have just spent 2 hours wrangling with an application to a large supermarket grant scheme.. in spite of registering correctly on their clunky portal, uploading relevant documents and frequently saving as I went along.. the 'submit' button did not submit the application but timed out and I've lost the whole bloody lot. Sigh..time for a large G&T while I do it all again while it's fresh in my mind. You would not believe how often this shit happens! #charity #fundraising #CommunityBusiness #GrantFunders

I've been running a community project since 2016 and got a really good track record of getting funding.. but.. it is increasingly difficult for us to get grants for various reasons. Submitted an application this week and got an email saying they received 1420 applications and expect to fully fund between 5 and 10 projects. #charity #grants #fundraising #CommunityBusiness

@lisagetspolitik just thinking about ways to try and help UK #charity #CommunityBusiness off the evil social media places and onto fediverse or other platforms. Do you know if anyone is doing any #gamebasedlearning on this or of any useful resources specifically aimed at #nonprofits. Feels like there is a real reluctance to move as they are worried about losing all their followers. I have some great stuff about using #MightyNetworks and we are beginning to use that and show others how it works. Thanks
