How is it possible in this day and age that a government owned railway company can't even manage to make it easy to buy train tickets?

Husband was ready to pay quite a lot of money to make a 12 hour train + bus journey.

After trying and failing for two and a half hours to book the tickets, he gave up.

Result: He's flying. The trip will take less than an hour one way (2 hours if you count security and such) and is ridiculously cheap.

All this because nobody can't be bothered to make the very first step in choosing a train journey as easy as it could be.

I tried to book a train in Spain. I booked a flight instead. I'm not strong enough. I let you all down. I'm sorry. What I was willing to sign up for: - travel 12+ hours on train + bus - transfer multiple times - pay twice as much as a flight - try booking 5 times Ain't nobody got time for this. What I ended up with: - travel time: 4hrs - single flight, no transfers - cheaper ticket - single booking attempt, 15 minutes in total Absolutely ridiculous.
