I’m back to designing knitting stitch patterns!

The word I drew from my Patreon backers’ suggestions for this month is Empathy. I turned the letters into numbers, and charted the numbers in various ways. I picked one chart to turn into lace knitting, and another for a charted design for any craft.

Here’s my last two stitch pattern posts before I go on my knitting work hiatus. I used an RNG to choose a word from a list suggested by my patreon backers, and the word is Soon. I turned the letters into numbers in various ways and made a bunch of charts. I turned one into lace knitting and the other into a charted design.

I’ve been sporadically editing old blog posts, and this week’s effort involves giving the charted design for Serendipity (a decade old!) its own blog post. (And written instructions!)

The technique I used for the original sample is called (among other names) knitweaving; link in next post. I’ve also drawn what the pattern might look like as an allover design.

This month’s patreon word is Oak (I used a random number generator to pick from a pool of suggestions.)

I turned the letters of Oak into numbers in a variety of ways, turned the results into a total of 81 charts, picked two of those, and made the following stitch patterns from them:

Here is the promised set of charted design instructions for Iceberg, along with an illustration of how it might look as stranded knitting. This charted design is unusual for my work, as it uses the same original chart as the above lace.

Each month my Patreon backers suggest words to me, and I pick one using a random number generator. I turn the letters of the word into numbers, chart them on graph paper in various ways, and then make two craft charts: one knitting stitch pattern and one charted design. This month’s word is Cicada. (Excellent for summer, right?)

I’ve been kind of obsessed with this layout (see thread above for the progression), and have been playing around with substituting other motifs. You will probably see more of these, until I get bored, anyway.

This week’s blog post is a variant on last week’s charted design (see thread above this post), now with more snowflakes:

Back in 2015, I made a charted design for the word Wilderness for my Patreon (I hadn’t settled down to an 8-letter-word limit yet). I was still new to charted designs back then, and there were some added complications with this word, so today I rewrote the entire blog post for it, with new charts, illustrations, and written instructions.
