Tal día como hoy “Estreno de Tiempos Modernos de Charlie Chaplin”

El estreno de Tiempos Modernos (Modern Times), la icónica obra maestra de Charlie Chaplin, tuvo lugar el 5 de febrero de 1936 en el Teatro Rivoli de Nueva York.

Esta película es histórica por varios motivos:

• El adiós a Charlot: Fue la última aparición cinematográfica de “The Tramp” (Charlot), el personaje que dio fama mundial a Chaplin.
• Resistencia al cine sonoro: Aunque en 1936 el cine sonoro ya estaba totalmente consolidado, Chaplin decidió que esta película fuera predominantemente muda, utilizando solo efectos de sonido sincronizados y voces a través de máquinas (como radios o altavoces).
