The Kingdom of #Aragon ceased to exist on #ThisDayInHistory in 1716 with promulgation by King #PhilipV of #Spain of the #NuevaPlanta decree. This ended the existence of #Valencia & #Catalonia as separate states, merging them into the French-style absolute monarchy of #Castile.

Once the #Almohad left Iberia in 1228, the #Nasrid dynasty rose in what is now southern #Spain. The #EmirateOfGranada held out until #ThisDayInHistory in 1492, for most of that time the only peninsular #Muslim emirate. Its conquest by #Castile and #Aragon ended the #Reconquista.
