I was today years old when I discovered that the Mercedes R129 had strut front suspension. WAT!? How did I miss this in the last 30+ years? Maybe I forgot. Ha.

I guess this layout has been a staple on Mercs forever but for some reason I thought the R129 was more "sports car bespoke". I wonder if the later R-chassis cars are strut too...

I really don't get why VW doesn't have a Beetle EV in their line-up. At least here (Canada) they don't sell one. I don't see one on the UK site.

Seems like it would be a "no-brainer" to me, especially this far into EV availability.

I mean, Mini EV, Fiat 500 EV, Renault EV, etc., etc. WTF is VW even doing? LOL

Porsche 928 (Late 16V w/ 5sp) vs Mercedes SL500 (R129).

Assume the R129 has flappy paddles via aftermarket kit or has been 5sp swapped (trying to make sorta apples-to-apples).

Given similar pricing and "gas-n-go" condition which would you pick?

it's a futile effort to make a platform built for spying to try and not spy on you such as Windows 10/11

However I'm looking at buying a certified preowned truck and it's known that new vehicles monitor the driver and sell that data to data brokers

I dunno, do I want the peace of mind of having a warranty while being spied on the whole time with DRM or do I risk years of wear and tear and just buy an old GMT800?
