Today in Labor History March 14, 1993: Soledad Estorach, Catalonian feminist, anarchist, anti-fascist militant died in Paris. In the 1930s, while still a teenager, she joined the anarcho-syndicalist union CNT. Along with other women in the CNT, she cofounded the Women's Cultural Group in 1934. She also joined the Libertarian Youth (FIJL), helping lead the resistance to the July 1936 military uprising in Barcelona. During the Spanish Civil War, she organized soup kitchens and other mutual aid initiatives, and she served as a regional representative of the FIJL, as well as fighting fascists at the barricades. She also established the House of the Woman Worker and contributed to the Tierra y Libertad magazine.
