A question for #calibreweb and #calibrewebautomated #ebook and #comic users: I recently set up a server in docker, with two specific storage locations for media/library storage and config, but I've found that my /config has grown massively.

It appears to be storing a lot of processed/ingested media in /config/processed_books (converted, imported and fixed_originals). Some of it has been zipped up, but some are left as is. These are mostly comics (hence there being about 40GB of data in there.

This is the SECOND TIME i click on the reset settings button accidentally because it's on the bottom right corner, which by my experience is usually the corner to CONFIRM settings! It doesn't even ask for confirmation! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

New #blog post: Migrating our #ebooks from #Booklore to #CalibreWebAutomated

A few weeks ago, I migrated our library to Booklore. However, there's been some community drama since than, culminating in the developer deleting the project entirely (repo, discord and website - all gone).

This post details the process of migrating our library over to Calibre-Web.

Part way through, I decided to use Calibre Web Automated instead, but it's pretty much drop-in compatible.

Migrating From Booklore to Calibre-Web

Short post detailing my experiences migrating our e-book library from (the now defunct) Booklore to Calibre Web (then to Calibre Web Automated). It describes building a library database from a directo

Okay, so #Calibre's #CalibreWeb - to be specific, #CalibreWebAutomated - is the absolutely most massive #Docker thing I use. The image is 1.92 gigabytes. HOW. How does a bog-standard Python app eat that much space.

Decided to try out the new fresh option, #BookLore. 329 megabytes. Sure, it's a bit big. ...but it's a Java app. 329 megabytes is pretty small for a Java web app actually.

The switch went... a little bit messily, but at least I have a new hobby now, actually being able to efficiently manage the ebook collection and edit the metadata without constantly worrying about corruption.

Finally figured out how to manually update book covers in CWA!

Posting in case this helps anyone in the future. Not particularly difficult, I was just having this issue recently, and took some time today to wor…

This week's #SelfHosting adventure: setting up #Booklore on my homelab for #Ebook management.

I have #CalibreWebAutomated installed but find it a bit finicky and I've never managed to get it syncing with my Kobo successfully. I'm hoping that BookLore might do the trick.

The documentation provided is excellent. Now to add all my ebooks and let the Bookdrop functin work its magic!

🚀 Getting Started with Booklore | Booklore

Welcome to Booklore – your self-hosted digital library management system. This guide will help you get up and running quickly.

There's so many things I want to add to #CalibreWeb (and/or #CalibreWebAutomated) - but the two big ones are just quality of life stuff like:
- Some kind of discovery (even just "n books like this one" on a book page, could be a simple clustering algorithm or some other recsys something #ML)
- A "currently reading" shelf, which would just auto-populate...
- A "want to read" shelf, which wouldn't necessarily include stuff I own - but just stuff that I intend to borrow from the library/buy

Feiertag bisher:

Jetzt erstmal was futtern.
