If you don’t know, Cairn is written by Yochai Gal and is based on Chris McDowall’s Into the Odd RPG. It’s an OSR/NSR rules light tabletop rpg that uses roll under d20 rolls for most things. Class-less, Level-less, with diegetic progression.
Check it out if want to try something different for your elf games.
In the meantime, I am finishing up preparing to run The Valley of Flowers post-Arthurian apocalypse campaign using @yochaigal's Cairn 2e role playing game.
We did character creation the other day and these last few chapters of Flowers have blown me away with all the strange and fantastical elements that my family is going to get to interact with. It's going to be a lot of fun and I can't wait to get started.
I started a thread on the RPG Cauldron Discourse forums to create a d100 table of magic rings for the Cairn RPG.
Check it out and contribute a cool ring of your own.

I thought it would be fun to kick off the New Year by working together to create one hundred magic rings for the Cairn RPG. After all, the fifth day of Christmas and it’s gift of five golden rings was only a few days ago. These will be relics in the Cairn RPG terminology. That means that each will grant a spell or power, will have a limited number of uses, and will have some ritual method needed to recharge relic/magic ring ( Core Rules | Cairn ). Recharges should be limited. Particularly power...
I am reading through the updated spellbook descriptions in the Cairn 2e #ttrpg. Each spellbound has a description or "personality" and some of them are just as useful or interesting as the spellbooks themselves.
For instance, the Leap spellbook. It let's you jump up to 10 feet, once. Its descriptions states "when thrown, it just keeps going." That could lead to some interesting in-game effects and problem solving.
I had a physical copy of the Liminal Horror Investigators printed at Staples. I am pretty happy with the end result. I'll pick up a copy the Liminal Horror Deluxe once it is in print in 2026.
From my brief flip thru, the game looks great. I am already a big fan of the Cairn system and this looks like a serviceable horror drift of the system.
The excellent Mystery Quest actual play podcast using Liminal finally made me take a look. It was very spooky.
The Cairn 2e Raise Spirit spellbook include the description, "The answers (but not their questions) are forever inscribed in its pages."
Suggest some answers that are in the Raise Spirit spellbook that your party just acquired.

My #Cairn 2e #ttrpg books arrived from Lulu. One of the Warden's Guides -- not pictured -- got mangled in transit, but everything else was just fine. The coul bound copies are great because they lay flat on the table.
I am consistently impressed with the quality of Lulu's print on demand books.
We have enough copies in the house that all three of my kids and I can now run the game for family and friends. I'm looking forward to it.
