In the meantime, I am finishing up preparing to run The Valley of Flowers post-Arthurian apocalypse campaign using @yochaigal's Cairn 2e role playing game.

We did character creation the other day and these last few chapters of Flowers have blown me away with all the strange and fantastical elements that my family is going to get to interact with. It's going to be a lot of fun and I can't wait to get started.

- I like that #Cairn2e adds backgrounds which inform about the character’s wider capabilities (in the sense of a certain skill set or knowledge about the world) and provide some substitute for special talents - also this is framed as access to special equipment.
- not super excited about the implied Forest Fantasy setting, but it’s was to gear the game towards another setting.
- The print on demand version is dirt cheap. Warden‘s guide belongs on every #osr reading list IMO. 3/3

- Love that #Cairn2e has a tight and opinionated set of procedures, which I missed in the first edition and in many modern #osr games only focusing on the being rules-light aspect. I think, while osr-type games don’t have to be played with a focus on procedural play, procedures are certainly a great way to communicate aspects of the setting, and the implied experience of the game (what is this game about?) 2/3

Lately, I had the chance to run some sessions of #Cairn2e (on Saturday, for example, I TPKd the characters of some farmer-Friends of mine 🙈). These are some of my first impressions:
- The game runs awesomely smooth… the rules are very light, but complete in a sense that I really don’t miss anything.
- Combat in Cairn is a blast, fast and super high-stakes (therefore disincentivized). Blew me away.

I was invited by a university‘s IT department to run a workshop on using #ttrpgs as a team building activity. Problem solving was the key topic, so I ran #Cairn2e - a comparably rules-light - #osr game. It went well and was fun…. and the fact that I was allowed to organize and run this event during my working hours makes me kind of a professional dm-for-one-day 😅

@mhd bei #Cairn2e finde ich spannend, wie die regelleichte Chassis des ursprünglichen Spiels - die ja auch weitgehend erhalten bleibt - um Prozeduren für die SL ergänzt wird. Das finde ich ganz zentral. Viele neuere #osr Spiele fehlt ja das prozeduale Element (irgendwas-crawls) und Cairn2e bringt die dann zurück, aber eben auf Forest Fantasy gebügelt und angepasst. Fand ich spannend.
