I enjoy chronicling my art processes; here’s my initial pen work + final watercolor & pen art of a Mexican Night-blooming Cereus, seen in Tucson, AZ but native to Southern Mexico. Read more on my latest blog post https://paulaborchardt.substack.com/p/columbine-and-a-night-blooming-cereus

My Easter Cactus, or Rhipsalidopsis, has been due to flower for a month or so now, but has bloomed very late, but not as absurdly late as the single pink flower of my Christmas Cactus, a Schlumbergera, which decided to flower in sympathy. Way out of whack!

I didn't realize this kid was here, but here he is, and I missed the peak of the blooms but they're still a pretty pink fwiw

Another cactus flower I found while trail running today. There are several species that I have found on the trails I run here in ATX.

British Cacti and Succulent Society Cornwall Branch 50th Annual Show

A fabulous outing today to Carharrack, near Redruth, to see some of the best plants in Cornwall. This Copiapoa cinerea ssp. haseltoniana was outstanding. Not the best photo but the best Copiapoa I've ever seen. Not surprisingly, it came first in its class.

Two different color blooms on the same pad! Grown from a pad off a #cactus I had in Arizona that I #proplifted 15 years ago. Seems to be doing ok in a Mediterranean climate Miscellaneous #opuntia should get a lot of fruit this year #CactusBloom #cracktus #bees #killyourlawn

I keep a Perpetual Journal; here are my entries from my yard 1, 2 & 3 years ago this week: Ironwood & Pencil Cholla in bloom & a Lucy’s Warbler in a nest box. In 2026 our Ironwood haven’t bloomed; we have very few Cholla flowers & no Lucy’s Warblers in our nest boxes.😞
