DFP: Bankitalia, 'growth rates below 1% don't solve the situation, we need policies'

Rome, April 28 (Adnkronos) – “We need policies so that this country grows more than it has in recent years. Growth rates below 1% cannot solve the situation, there needs to be a commitment from the entire political world to identify which policies are important.” This was stated by Andrea Brandolini, head of the Department of Economy and Statistics of the Bank of Italy, in response to questions during the Budget Committee meeting on the DFP. “We – he recalled – insist a lot on human capital and innovation and therefore on ‘capturing the effects of the technological revolution’.”

California lawmakers to begin special session to 'Trump-proof' state laws

California Gov. Gavin Newsom has launched his campaign to safeguard liberal values ahead of another Donald Trump presidency. State lawmakers convened Monday to swear in new members for the 2025 legislative session. At Newsom's prompting, they are kickstarting a special session to give the state attorney general more funding in anticipation of new federal challenges. Trump repeatedly attacked California on the campaign trail, threatening to withhold disaster aid over Newsom’s water-restricting policy. Trump also has vowed to carry out mass deportations once in office. Assemblymember Jesse Gabriel introduced legislation to set aside $25 million for legal fees.
