💥 My overall review:
Luke alone was the reason I finished this book.

His sarcastic comments made me laugh every time. I really liked the relationships once some of the characters (*cough* Charlie *cough* and Sage *cough*) got their lives together.

The overall story might have taken a little for me to get into and understand the world of Bexley, but once I did I didn’t want to put the book down. Not to mention how pure the friendships were in this book, I loved it.

Definitely one of my favorite trans books. It wasn't too angsty either and has a nice ending.

♡ My review:
This was such a good book!! The energy/vibe that Felix gives off is a mood, it was chapter one and I already knew I loved his character. Overall most of the characters and friendships were great, but I kinda would have liked to see more of Declan and Felix working out their problems and being friends again, they have such a great dynamic.

As far as plot twists go it was well done, I didn't expect who did the gallery, but once it was revealed it made perfect sense. On that note, Leah is freaking awesome, I loved her character so much and when she went off on the person behind the gallery—I was so proud of her. Not to mention she was actually a decent person unlike some of Felix's "friends”.

The ending was really satisfying to read, it was nice to see Felix find himself a bit more and surround himself with better people and cut ties with the toxic ones. Super happy to have read this.

In 1996 – ik woonde nog bij mijn ouders thuis – kocht ik in een boekwinkel een pocketboekje getiteld ‘De Groene Mijl – de twee dode meisjes’, geschreven door Stephen King. Het bleek het eerste deeltje van een feuilleton. Gedurende een half jaar liep ik iedere maand opnieuw naar het plaatselijke winkelcentrum om daar, in de boekwinkel, het volgende deeltje te kopen. Zes boekjes in totaal; ik koesterde die dingen op mijn jongenskamer.

Wanneer ik de verfilming voor het eerst zag, weet ik niet meer. Wel weet ik dat ik het een van de beste Stephen Kingverfilmingen vond. (Nog altijd heb ik kippenvel bij het horen van de soundtrack van Thomas Newman.)

Stephen King lees ik niet eens zo zeer vanwege zijn horror (al geniet ik ook van moordlustige clowns, door het kwaad bezeten hotels of kinderen die om welke reden dan ook uit de dood herrijzen.) maar vanwege zijn prachtige, verhalende beschrijvingen van kleine gemeenschappen, diepmenselijke gedragingen door personages van vlees en bloed en, zoals dat ook in dit prachtige gevangenisdrama gebeurt, gewetensvragen die hij aan zijn verhalen koppelt:

- Wat als een van een dubbele moord verdachte en tot de dood veroordeelde, reusachtige man, genaamd John Coffey (‘Zoals het drankje alleen spel je het anders.’), ten koste van zichzelf het leven juist schenkt of daar een poging toe deed?

The best way I can describe this read for me is nostalgic.

My personal love story started in the 8th grade, when I was fourteen and he was thirteen. That nerdy boy is now my husband, and we’ve been together 15 years now.

This book is told in two timelines, and the “then” timeline that told the story of Elliot and Macy meeting at about the same age and falling in love was so familiar to me, and brought back so many memories. I had so much affection for these flashbacks.

Perhaps that’s what really made me love this book. I do have my critiques, one that it’s a bit long and two that the end is a bit soapy, but overall I really enjoyed it. This story has many truly heartwarming moments, but it also explores some genuine pain and heartbreak.
